When to See a Doctor
- You have a fever or trouble breathing.
- Symptoms are severe or worsening.
- Asthma symptoms are flaring.
- You’re unsure and not improving.
Spotting the Difference
COVID-19 usually hits fast with fever, cough, fatigue, and sometimes loss of taste or smell.
Hay Fever happens seasonally, causes sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose—no fever.
Other Allergies (dust, pets) cause sneezing and itchy eyes but can happen any time of year.
How to Feel Better
- COVID: Rest, fluids, test if unsure.
- Hay Fever: Antihistamines, nasal sprays, sunglasses outside.
- Other Allergies: Reduce indoor triggers, use air filters.
Most sniffles aren’t serious—but if you’re feeling really unwell, it’s always safer to check. NHS 111 and your GP are there to help if you need them.
