You cannot get alternative medicine on the NHS, and most doctors think it has limited value.
The problem is that there is little/no research to prove that it works. It might of course. Also, for many diseases, time is the best healer.
So if you start alternative medicine and your health improves, it may be nothing to do with it, and you are making a false link.
Most of it probably does not do any harm. It may have a placebo effect, similar to ‘our’ medicine, and that is useful. It is true that acupuncture had been around for a long time.
