Yes/no .. re the NHS. Yes, if there is a NHS clinic near you, and the waiting time isn’t that much.
This is what the NHS website says.
“A GP, nurse or pharmacist can give you advice and help with your menopause or perimenopause symptoms.
Find your nearest NHS or private menopause specialist on the British Menopause Society (BMS) website (which lists NHS and private specialists).
Talking therapies like counselling or CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) can help with symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. You can get NHS talking therapies without seeing a GP first.”
This is not very helpful.
First of all there is a heavy emphasis on the menopause being a psychological problem. It is not.
Second. This happens to suggest people refer themselves to the private clinics of the members of the BMS.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the underlying problem is that there are few NHS menopause clinics in the UK (about 35, many in Scotland).
If there was a proper service, there wouldn’t be a need for Dr Louise Newson and her excellent Newson Health clinics.
