Can temporary UK residents get NHS care?
Yes.
If you are living in the UK temporarily (or on holiday), and you are not registered with a local GP, you can get emergency medical care at a general practice (or hospital).
Doctors are happy to see patients who are temporarily resident in an area. In this instance, people wishing to be treated should state that they are a temporary resident when reporting to reception – at the GP practice or hospital.
To register with a GP, you will need to bring your passport – plus there may be a ‘temporary residents’ form’ on the GP practice website that you need to fill out.
If you go to a hospital, it is a good idea to bring a passport or driving license.
