How to find more about your disease

These are 5 ways: doctor, NHS website, internet, book, charity.

1. Doctors – talk to your doctors (GP or hospital consultant). It is still better to talk to your doctors. Your doctors may even recommend useful websites for you to look at.

2. NHS Website. One of the best sources of information is the NHS Choices (https://www.nhs.uk/) website, which is evidence-based and non-promotional [“MyHSN is quite good too, we have heard” MyHSN Ed].

3. Internet – use it. Dr Google can be really helpful. You can use the internet to try and give yourself answers. Be careful what you read. Academic, university, doctor’s professional body, major charity and NHS websites are best. (“And MyHSN!” Ed)

4. Book – buy one. Look in your local bookshop or use Amazon. Read the reviews.

5. Charity – join a local charity about your condition. Then you can meet other people with your condition.
